Is Empire Barber & Beauty Training Center open for enrollment?
Not yet. Empire is completing the NYSED BPSS licensing process. Enrollment will not open until all required approvals are obtained. Prospective trainees may join the priority list for verified updates.

Empire Barber & Beauty Training Center is located at 40 Steuben St, Albany, NY 12207, serving Albany and communities across the Capital Region.
How many hours is the planned barber program?
The Barbering curriculum totals 540 instructional hours across 10 course units. One instructional hour equals 60 minutes.
How long is the full-time day program?
The planned day schedule is Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a one-hour non-instructional lunch excluded from clock hours. At 32 clock hours per week, the estimated length is approximately 17 weeks.
Will Empire offer evening barber training?
A Monday through Thursday evening schedule from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM is planned based on approval, instructor availability, and cohort demand. At 20 clock hours per week, the estimated length is 27 weeks.
Do I need previous barbering experience?
No prior barbering experience is planned to be required. The curriculum begins with professional expectations, sanitation, safety, tools, and foundational technique before practical work advances.
What will students learn?
The Barbering curriculum covers professional development, sanitation and infection control, tools, haircutting, fades and tapers, shaving and facial treatment, hair and scalp science, client services, barber shop operations, career planning, branding, and state board preparation.
How much will tuition and the student kit cost?
Final tuition, fees, books, student-kit costs, refund terms, and payment arrangements will be provided in approved written materials before anyone signs an enrollment agreement.
Can veterans use VA education benefits?
Empire is veteran-owned and intends to support military-connected students, but VA education-benefit eligibility requires separate approvals and is not currently guaranteed. Verified information will be published only after approval.
Does joining the Founding 25 guarantee admission?
No. The Founding 25 is a priority information list. It is not an application, acceptance, enrollment agreement, payment obligation, or guarantee of a future seat.
